While Rivera, baseball’s career saves leader, was conducting an interview in the dugout on Saturday after meeting some local families that had endured hard times, Chamberlain was signing autographs in front of the dugout and communicating rather loudly with family members in the stands in order to be heard over the public-address system.

Rivera did not like it and gestured to Chamberlain to lower his voice. According to The New York Times, Chamberlain went up to Rivera after the interview and said, „Don’t shush me.“

Rivera thought his team mate was kidding, but Chamberlain persisted, telling him „I’m serious. Don’t ever shush me.“

Rivera brushed Cheap Converse off the exchange and said he would handle the matter internally with Chamberlain.

Chamberlain, who is on the disabled list with an oblique injury, said before Sunday’s game against the Royals that there was no need to apologize to Rivera.

„For what? It’s over with. It’s done,“ Chamberlain said. „It’s really not an issue in the first place.“

The Yankees placed infielder Eduardo Nunez on the 15-day disabled list with a rib cage injury. Nunez had been the primary replacement for Derek Jeter at shortstop while Jeter recovers from his ankle injury.

Also, Mark Teixeira was shifted to the 60-day disabled list as a procedural move. Teixeira is still expected to return in Converse All Star early June.

A year after Philip Humber threw the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball history, the Houston Astros designated the right-hander for assignment.

On April 21, 2012, Humber was with the Chicago White Sox when he pitched the perfect game. He finished last season with a 9-9 record and a 3.75 ERA in 163 innings.

This year, he was 0-8 with an 9.59 ERA Chuck Taylor All Star in 35 2/3 Converse Chuck Taylor innings.

The St. Louis Cardinals placed right-hander Jake Westbrook on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak told KMOX Radio that John Gast will be called up from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday to start a game against the New York Mets in Westbrook’s place.

The Cardinals will move injured closer Jason Motte, who is recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery, to the 60-day disabled list.

The Colorado Rockies placed outfielder Michael Cuddyer on the 15-day disabled list with a neck injury and recalled outfielder Charlie Blackmon from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday, the team announced.

The 34-year-old Cuddyer has what the team described as an inflamed cervical disk.
